NEW in 2011 - Coastal Empire Fairgrounds offers parking and shuttles

Parking details:

  • RV Parking - $60/ night with water and 50 amp electrical hook up. Minimum 1 night deposit required in advance.
  • Auto Parking - $20/ day

Both include shuttle service to and from downtown. Cash only or money order in advance.

Shuttle Service:

  • Beginning at 7 AM on March 17 and every 30 minutes until noon. Every hour after noon. Ends at 10 PM. Sites TBA.
  • March 18-19 - Beginning at 10 AM and every 90 minutes until 10 PM.

Skip the traffic, take the trolley!!

The Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce will once again be offering a trolley service for visitors and locals during the St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 17th.

Trolleys will depart/arrive every 30 minutes beginning at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m. Shuttle stops: Food Lion Shopping Plaza and participating Exit 109 hotels. Purchase tickets in advance at the PW Chamber or purchase day of at the ticket booth next to El Ranchito's Mexican Restaurant in the Food Lion Shopping Plaza.

  • Coolers are permitted.
  • Cost: Adults 18+ $25.00, 6-17 $10.00, 5 and Under Free

Event Rates: Attendants will accept fees prior to entering the garage to provide for quicker exist.

  • Thursday, March 17, 8 a.m. until Friday, March 18 at 8 a.m., parking is $15. Vehicles exiting after 8 a.m. on Friday will be charged an additional $15
  • Friday, March 18, 8 a.m. until Saturday, March 19 at 8 a.m., parking will be $15. Vehicles exiting after 8am on Saturday will be charged an additional $15.
  • Saturday, March 19, 8 a.m. until Sunday, March 20 at 8 a.m., parking will be $15.
  • Vehicles exiting after 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 20 will be charged:
  • Bryan, Robinson and State St. Garages - $5
    Liberty St - $1
    Whitaker St - $10

  • Vehicles exiting after 8 a.m. on Monday, March 21 will be charged the daily rate of $1.00 per hour.

Special Notes:

  • Wednesday, March 16: In order to guarantee monthly cardholders a parking space, parking will be limited. Whitaker St will be open to the public all day. Parking will be $15.
  • Thursday, March 17: Parking will be guaranteed to cardholders until 8 a.m., and then opened to the public.
  • Friday, March 18: Monthly cardholders will be guaranteed a parking space until 8 a.m. Parking will be limited until 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 19: All garages will continue charging the special event rate of $15 except for the Liberty Garage. Due to a show at the Civic Center (TNA event) the Liberty Garage will only charge $5 to encourage patrons to use the garage rather than parking on street.
  • Sunday, March 20: All garages will return to normal operations and pricing beginning Sunday morning. The Liberty Garage will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday and re-open Monday at 5 a.m. (the garage is traditionally closed on the weekends).

Savannah Visitor Center at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard

The Visitors Center lot will be available for parking at 7 a.m., Thursday, March 17; charging the special event rate of $15. Vehicles parking before 7 a.m. must purchase a pass. Vehicles not displaying a pass are subject to being cited.

RV and Motor Coach parking is permitted and limited during the festival. The parking fee is $15.00 per day per vehicle and/or vehicle in tow. Parking passes can be purchased Wednesday, March 16 thru Saturday, March 19 from the Parking Attendant in the control booth at the exit gate. If an RV/Motor Coach or a vehicle leaves during the festival, their parking space is not guaranteed. Please park properly to avoid being cited. Please put all trash in the trash receptacles.

Motorcoaches and other Private Shuttles

Motorcoaches and private shuttles are directed to use Indian Street between Warner and Fahm. No parking will be allowed on Indian Street for the duration of the festival period (Thursday/Friday/Saturday).

Civic Center Parking Lot

The lot will be closed to the public Thursday, March 17, due to staging for the parade.

CAT Shuttle Service

CAT will provide a round-trip shuttle service to the parade on Thursday, March 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The shuttle service will be departing from the following locations:

  • Westside at the Westside Shopping Center on Hwy 80 in Garden City
  • Eastside at the Island Towne Centre on Whitemarsh Island and Southside at the Savannah Mall near the carousel in the rear.

Parade patrons may park their cars at these locations and ride the shuttles into downtown Savannah.

The shuttles will begin return trips from the parade in downtown Savannah from noon – 3 p.m.

  • Passengers riding the Eastside Shuttle will be dropped off and picked up downtown at Oglethorpe and Houston Streets. It will return to the Island Towne Centre.

Passengers riding the Westside and Southside shuttles will be dropped off and picked up at the Visitors’ Center at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. The Westside Shuttle will return to the Westside Shopping Center and the Southside Shuttle will return to the Savannah Mall.

After the 3 p.m. hour, shuttle patrons can return to their cars via CAT’s fixed routes:

  • The 3A and 3B routes will return within a block of the Westside Shopping Center. It will require a short walk.
  • The 10 East Savannah and 24 Savannah State/Wilmington Island routes will return to the Island Towne Centre
  • The 14 Abercorn will return to the Savannah Mall.

The cost of the shuttle services is as follows:

  • A $5.00 advance fare pass provides a ride to the parade and a return trip. Passes may be purchased in advance at CAT’s main office, 900 East Gwinnett Street or CAT Central, 124 Bull Street.
  • The day of the event, the pass will be available for $7.00. Patrons are encouraged to have correct change.

Please note, if you miss the shuttle service, your pass can be used on CAT’s regular service.

PLEASE NOTE: SHUTTLE SERVICE WILL NOT BE OPERATING FROM THE OGLETHORPE MALL THIS YEAR. HOWEVER, THE #14 ABERCORN AND #27 WATERS ROAD BUSES WILL TRAVEL ON THEIR REGULAR ROUTES TO DOWNTOWN SAVANNAH FROM OGLETHORPE MALL.

Hutchinson Island Parking

Parking for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be available at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, for a fee of $10 per vehicle including a round trip on the water ferry for all vehicle passengers.

Please note, the Trade Center Parking Lot will not admit vehicles after 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 17. Friday, March 18, parking will be available from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. for a fee of $5.00 per vehicle including a round trip on the water ferry for all vehicle passengers.

The water ferry will run from Savannah International Trade & Convention Center beginning at 7:10 a.m. until midnight for the convenience of Trade Center and Westin guests.

On-Street Parking Enforcement

  • Thursday, March 17: There will be no on-street enforcement during the festival period.
  • Friday, March 18: Regular operations will resume; parking meters and time zones will be enforced normally. On Friday evening, there will be enforcement of safety violations (yellow lines, fire hydrants, etc.).
  • Saturday, March 19: Enforcement of safety violations only.
  • Sunday, March 20: Enforcement of safety violations only.

Taxi Services

Taxi Stands will be located in two locations and operate on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The taxi stand locations are:

  • Indian Street between Warner and Fahm
  • St. Julian Street between Whitaker and Bull

Please note there will be no taxi stand at Price and Oglethorpe this year. Police will have a presence at both taxi service stands.

Towing Services

Police will mobilize the towing companies to remove cars from the parade route starting at 6 a.m.

All vehicles illegally parked in areas affected by the parade will be towed at owner’s expense. To retrieve your towed vehicle, the vehicle owners must obtain a vehicle release form from Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD) Headquarters at Habersham and Oglethorpe Streets. Proof of ownership is required to obtain a vehicle release form from SCMPD.

Hospitality Centers Operating Hours – (Restrooms)

  • Ellis Square (Barnard and Bryan): Security will be on hand and restrooms will remain open in Ellis Square until midnight on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. No events are planned in Ellis Square during St. Patrick’s week and weekend.
  • River Street (Bull Ramp and River St, behind City Hall): The hours of operation are as follows:

    Wed. 16th 10 a.m.-12 a.m.
    Thur. 17th 9 a.m.-12 a.m.
    Fri. 18th 10 a.m.-12 a.m.
    Sat. 19th 10 a.m.-12 a.m.
    Sun. 20th 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Savannah Visitor Center (Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Saturday

Tow To Go will be available March 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th
