Celtic Cross Ceremony

Honoring the Irish

Grand Marshall Father Patrick O’Brien lays a wreath on the Celtic Cross in downtown Savannah.

Everyone knows about Savannah's St. Patrick's Day Parade. But there's so much more to the festival than just a parade, a drink and revelry.

Savannah's festival events offer something for visitors, locals, families, and friends.

There's the annual greening of Forsyth Park's fountain, and the greening of the grits.

The Celtic Cross Mass is a time to honor the city's Irish ancestors and the contributions they made.

Tara Feis is a day full of Irish dancing, singing and storytelling that brings folks together to learn about Irish heritage and culture.

“As we move further and further away from our ancestors who came from Ireland we want to keep our traditions. Cherish our traditions, our dance, and our music so that the children way down the line will have that in their hearts and spirits,” explains Tara Feis Chairwoman Bernadette Winters.
